told by mommy:
Titus showed up an hour after we got the placement call. He didn't cry, he was completely emotionless, for weeks. He could barely sit-up, couldn't crawl and had never been offered any food, just formula. In just 2 months, by his 1st birthday, he was the goofiest and most easy-going and fun baby ever! He smiled and laughed all the time. I remember being smitten with him instantly, mostly because he applauded every time I entered the room.
I went to Titus' termination of parental rights (TPR) trial and had to testify. I remember seeing Titus' birthmom walk out of that courtroom and God moved me. I was so in love with her son but God put it on my heart to talk to her. I didn't know what to say, I just said, "I'm sorry" then I watched her hard, cold exterior melt away and I held her as she sobbed. Titus' great-grandmother was there and was so kind, thanking me over and over for caring for her great-grandson. The very next day his whole birth family (about 10 people) joined with us and members of our church family to celebrate Titus' 1st birthday. It was a party full of joy and tears. It was the perfect good-bye.
We completed Titus' adoption on June 21st, 2012 when he was 16 months old. It was only 6 months after he arrived in our home and changed our lives forever. He has been one of our family's greatest blessings, he is our reminder to how faithful God is to those who answer His call. Titus is our great reward for taking GIANT leap of faith and allowing a 5th child to join our family!
Titus is our spontaneous hug-giver, the best listener, and always trying out new, silly laughs and funny faces! We love our little Ty-man!
